Course summary

Improve the concentration skills and emotional resilience of primary students by teaching mindfulness.

You will learn:

This course will help you teach primary students how to use mindfulness as a tool for learning and a way to care for wellbeing. You will read the latest research and participate in mindfulness activities that build your confidence and skills.

  • How mindfulness benefits students and teachers.
  • How to teach mindfulness using the five senses.
  • How to use mindfulness as a learning tool.
  • How mindfulness links to the curriculum.

Course time:

This course will take you 2 hours to complete. Enjoy it in one session or spread it out over a few weeks. You will have ongoing access via your personal dashboard.

Accreditation:

This course is mapped to the Professional Standards for Teachers. It is accredited for teacher professional development hours in the following states and territories:

Proficient Teacher – all states and territories except NSW

  • 4.1.2 Establish and implement inclusive and positive interactions to engage and support all students in classroom activities.
  • 4.3.2 Manage challenging behaviour by establishing and negotiating clear expectations with students and address discipline issues promptly, fairly and respectfully.
  • 4.4.2 Ensure students’ well-being and safety within school by implementing school and/ or system, curriculum and legislative requirements.

This course is not currently accredited in NSW (NESA). However, it can be counted toward NESA PD elective hours.

This course is accredited by TQI for 2 hours of professional development for teachers in the ACT for 2024.
